Discover Romania

About the project

Being originally from Romania, people ask me all the time about tourism spots and routes.
Even though I know Romania very well, I found it difficult to show them routes, places to visit and how to get there, as I had to look on several apps and websites to find the traks, ways of transportation, attractions and lodging.
 
Romania is a great tourism spot, there are numerous places to visit, but not many people know about them or how to even get there.

4 weeks

Problems:

1. The need to use several applications and websites to find all the information about the trip.

2. Lack of information on places like hiking and biking routes, as well as winter sport trails.

3. Tourists, local or not, have difficulties on arriving at tourist spots.

Solutions:

1. An app that brings solutions to the traveler needs, information about transportation, accomodation, itinerary and activities.

2. A wide range of tracks by nature, difficulty and location of the route.

3. Include features that can give directions and guides, especially ways of transportation.

Research:

To understand user behaviour, I conducted an online survey to observ any pattern or similarity in what users usually use to find places and tourist spots.

Conclusions:

After conducting the case study along with the SWOT process I decided to include some features in the application.

  1.  The first feature is GPS location, that connects the application to google maps in order to find routes and ways of transportation. 

  2.  The second feature is connected to flights, when searching for a flight, in order to purchase the flight ticket the app connects to the flight operator for the purchase completion.

  3.  The third feature is conected to hotels, when searching for a hotel the app connects to booking website and books the hotel through it.

 * Also I found it useful allowing the possibility of travel ads in the application. While the users are browsing through the app, ads may appear at the bottom of the page, such as hotels or accomodations ads that by clicking on it gives the user a discount by booking a stay, or different tickets discounts to attractions, museums, concerts, or ski passes when looking for winter sports.
